I really don't know what to do about the ground area. If I should cover it up or texture it. I also need to work on color choice for the mountains a lot. There's just a LOT of questions I have about this whole thing. It's all for practice and fun so I'd just like to see what I can learn from this piece. Let me know what I can do to improve.

The sun should be altering the land around it. The entire sky should be purple then shift to blue then darker blue. The earth could also use some moderately bright colors caused by the sunset. As for the mountains they should have either purple/orange/red highlights, but remain pretty dark overall.

I would try something like this:

Puddles of water, small hills...

Yeah, rather patchy work, but I'm just trying to illustrate my ideas. Hope some of it you might find useful.

@Crozier
Ya, I should definitely change the coloring to fit with the shades of the sun. Is this what you had in mind?

@LachieD
Hmm I thought about that...I just don't know if it fills in the space in a really aesthetically pleasing way. I think I may end up doing some water or a kind of river but it's going to be tricky with the reflection of light.
