In light of the recent server issues, there won't be a proper challenge this week. Instead, we are going to ask you guys to take on your own personal challenge - it can be whatever you like!

Some possible ideas to consider:

  • Take the first piece in your gallery and remake it.
  • Pick an old challenge you missed and create something using those restrictions.
  • Pick a form of pixel art that is outside of your comfort zone (eg. if you mainly create scenery, try making an animated sprite).
  • Make something using techniques that you have not mastered - or - avoid using techniques that you use often (eg. if you frequently dither, try creating a piece without any dithering whatsoever).
  • Use a style that you have never considered using before.
  • Create a piece that uses colours that you absolutely HATE.
  • Or maybe pixel something in celebration of Pixeljoint's 11th anniversary - which just happens to be today (well, at very least, it's been 11 years since http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/100.htm - sedgemonkey created his account.)

Keep in mind, this is NOT a weekly challenge, your work will not be voted on, nor does it need to comply with any specific requirements. These are just some suggestions for you to consider.

My challenge: make a FB cover photo since I am being forced into timeline. In other news 851 x 315, what the hell kind of dimensions are those.

I made a sprite, and I am going to attempt to make a front and back side, and animate it later!

Thinking of remaking one of my first pixel art pieces.

It looks like they're doing "high five". :D

I find that the old one looks much better! Why so much everything in a straight line and where is the playful look?

I'd like to remake this mask, as it it is very simple and not shaded at all. I really would like to improve my pixelling skills.

Here is my wip. I don't really see what could be improved :s

Your WIP is looking awesome, Jeremy !
Here's something I did with the MS Paint Palette.
Don't know what it is.

Crits requested !

Gamamoto, I think the problem is that there are lots of jaggies and your anti-aliasing could be better. Eyes are too wide, mouth should be wider.
You should try to shade it too :).

I guess I should redo some of my oldest sprites I can find, going from this:

to this:

Dunno if I'll finish or not.
