We at http://ghostinabottle.com - Ghost in a Bottle and Sons would like to extend an invitation to apply for the position of Senior Tentacle Artist II to help us deliver high quality tentacle art to our clients around the world.



Octopus City Blues is an upcoming 2D adventure game concerning a cyberpunk city built around a giant octopus in the midst of a perpetual snow storm. You take on the role of Kaf Kafkaryan, a lowly tentacle cutter plagued with terrible nightmares. The game focuses on exploration and interaction with a variety of NPCs who go around their daily schedules. Guide Kaf through the narrow streets of an overcrowded city on the brink of extinction. Explore a decadent world of octopus blood addiction, corrupt politicians, warring gangs and filthy slums on a surreal quest to uncover the meaning of Kaf’s ominous dreams.



Here’s where you come in. I need a 2D pixel artist (or more) to draw backdrops and sprites for the game. The game would have a small resolution (320x240) and is built on a custom cross-platform engine. The city itself is dark and full of animated tentacles that spread and grow, going through cracks in walls and slowly overtaking the city. The main sprite doesn’t talk much, but he is pretty animated -- always ending up in the wrong place or doing some really stupid expression. There are also a variety of surreal dreams that take place in jungles, war zones, floating islands and techno catacombs. The dream segments are generally short and more linear, however.



The job will require a lot of work but the city itself is limited to a number of central locations and we can scale the scope of the game depending on what’s possible. This is a paid position and I could provide you with more information and more detailed requirements if you contact me.
