Greetings Pixeljoint, I'm new and I hope I posted on the right section.

I was trying to look for a better software to make animated sprites, I came across many softwares, I thought of using Photoshop but I decided to give it a go by using Graphicsgale Free-version 1.93.22.

Its interface is a bit frustrating, but what's even more frustrating is that I spent hours trying to figure out a problem in that I've searched through many topics which turns out to be irrelevant.

What my problem is that I cannot seems able to make the selection stay, I can't get any chance to edit in any selection.

Which means, after I clicked the Magic Wand, I added an selection on the editing area, and that's where the problem starts bugging me. If I click other tools like Pen, Bucket, Line, etc, the selection simply disappears.

Any idea what's going on?
Thanks.

Unfortunately that is simply not a Graphics Gale feature.  You might have an easier time keeping things on separate layers.

On the topic of graphics gale, does anyone know if there is a way to flip or mirror a selection in gg? I find it very annoying when I have to open up gimp just to flip one sprite then paste it back in.

Select an area of the image and click on Image > Flip (Horizontal/Vertical).

Additionally, you can set up a shortcut for flipping if it's something you do often!  I have horizontal flip set as H, it's pretty handy.

Just go into File -> Preferences, and from there you can set up custom shortcuts.  Didn't realize that for the longest time, and it's made Graphics Gale way more convenient to work with. : )
