Hello. It's been quite a while since I've been here, but since I'm starting up with pixel art again and having some problems, why not ask you guys? :D

Anyway; take a look at this picture http://a.pomf.se/5Lj5.png

I made a cube because I want to make a quick layout of a map I'm going to design (an arena-like map) with it. The map will have slopes, and I had no problem making a 2-block long slope that's facing south, but making one facing north wasn't quite as easy (red circle #2). How do I make a slope that looks better facing north? Do I need to resize my cubes so it aligns better or something?

My other problem is when I make pattern #1 (Red circle #1). Something doesn't look quite right.

I'm currently working in MS Paint, do you recommend using Photoshop for tiling? What methods work best when doing this kind of work?

Any help appreciated :) Feels good to be back!

Get rid of the outline and make the box 2 pixels shorter, so things line up. And you'll just have to tweak the design of the box until it tiles right for your needs.

Thanks!

I see you added a picture, but I can't see it. Do you mind re-uploading it? :)

That was weird...an old ftp delete instruction must have been executed long after the image was (re)uploaded (there were problems with my webhost). Well, I re-uploaded again, and now it seem ok.
