I'm obviously not finished yet. But I would like some advice before I do the entire leaves. Thanks in advanced.
I am using 6 colors from DB's palette.

Nice highlights on the tree, but wouldn't the tree be in the shadows of it's leaves?

I like the balance. The center of gravity feels really good. The texture on the bark is particularly nice.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will fix the shading on the bark soon.

Is this good?
EDIT: I would also like to add- What is better, dither or non dither?

Definitely non dither. I love where you're going with this... but the dithering breaks it.

Selective dithering might be nice but only if used sparingly. What you have going on is not adding at all to the natural textures of the bark. It also gives away the grid too easily. Keep the cartoony look. The bark looks really good where the roots are. Maybe you can texture in a few clusters to communicate the specific texture better (kinda like what what you did with those awesome leaves!) You're on the right track tho!

This is looking pretty solid! I echo the other guys about the dithering and I would carry the leaf detail into more of the tree. The roots at the bottom left edge are just awesome! Here's a great tutorial (which you've probably seen but maybe useful to others who are inspired by your tree) that I look at just for inspiration:

Thanks guys for the replies. I haven't been working on this that much, but here's what I have:
And thanks for that tutorial! This tree won't follow that tutorial but future trees will.
