I'm trying to working out a scene
the corlors are a little tough this challenge, there isn't really a very light color. I posted this for critique and help :)

I've been playing around with the palette and surprisingly there are actually some nice (albeit small) ramps.

The palette is awful. I doubt I will enter this time.

Here's a sketch to test the palette

My tip, from briefly messing around with the palette, is to stick with only a few colours. Remember, you only need to use three colours.

Edit: Just some messing around with using only three colours:

Well this looks less distracting.
I always preferred creating pieces with more colors and reducing palette later. But few colors approach seems to be very useful at the beginning.

I tried to organize given colors

I cannot find where to place that saturated green. Probably creating a good-looking piece with that color would be the hardest(and most interesing) challenge.

Reference Palette for those who need one. Inspired by Muxaun's palette image. just added the green and some dithering. I'll be taking a whack at this challenge.

EDIT: first WIP

Updated. Submitting at this point. C&C still welcome. I may edit the submission before the deadline, but i have someother ideas for this challenge Iwant to try out.

Hey guys!
So, this is my first time participating in a compo here, so I hope I'm doing this right. Also I didn't work on any pixel art in months (o.o;; )

Anyway, here is my WIP:

I liked scamocore's Idea of using as little colors as possible.
I also wanted to use that awful acid green color.

So here's an early WIP.

My WIP, I'm having trouble on the background and how to add more detail. Any suggestions or edits would be greatly appreciated!

Finished (no wips because I did it really quick), I actually quite like the palette. The dark green/brown were pretty useless but the rest of it was pretty rad.

@CajeDrake: I can't quite tell what the concept is. Is it a ship crash-landed in a mountain cave? or UFO flying, hidden in a cloud? or what is it?

I'm glad to see you were able to find a way to highlight. The lower shadow looks nice but you don't use the dark blue anywhere else. It stands out and draws the eye to the bottom.

I look forward to seeing what you do with the ground and sky.

My WIP (I only have one more day to work on it. I'm going to be away from the house for a week.)

I don't know what else to do with this piece...

EDIT: Textured some of the elements of the piece. Time to submit it but I want to do so much more with this now. Enjoy!

Discovery of elephant flight.

Looks like an almost nice palette for some radioactive pink thing. And wanted to try more horizontal "wing" movement for hovering.

@Muxaum: That awful acid green color is slightly yellowish and looks perfect enough for discovering something in the deep forest like http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/epixx/epixx1010/epixx101000024/7947975-backlit-treetop-foliage-abstract-with-trees-and-branches-in-the-foreground.jpg - this

Edit: Seems I misunderstood a few things before, but whatever. Here is the update:

And also, another for the discovery topic (admittedly quickly made but for the fun of it):
