Hey, it's been awhile pixeljoint. I've improved a lot on my art since I've last been here, but I haven't pixeled much! Anyway, here is something I've been inspired to work on:

Character ref: http://cameronfedora.deviantart.com/art/Darkwing-299065206 - here

Jaguar reference: http://news.co.cr/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Costa-Rica-Jaguar.jpg - Here

Wings ref: http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~evans/pictures/victoria/bird-trying-to-fly-IMG_2372.JPG
(bleh lots of bug happen when I try to post links)

Would like to know what to fix before moving on.

I think it looks pretty good so far, but is there any reason why the tail and legs are cut off?

I was working an a canvas but didn't have enough room. I extended the canvas but it was about 1:30 am so I decided not to fix the wings and tail, and instead posted it here to try to get feedback before I woke up the next morning.

TL;DR- no reason

Lined it. There are probably tons of jaggies. I'll work on fixing them. Also, I don't know how to antialias, or when to antialias, so if anyone could help me with that it would be great. (I already read about it in the faq)

(I also don't know much about fixing jaggies either OTL)

Edit: fixed a few jaggies (I think??)

Edit: Added shading!

(I love this so much so far and I'm super proud of it Adlasdfa)

I think maybe the furthest back leg (the back-right one that's lifted up) could be pushed more to the right. I really like the wing shading though!

Thanks ametalias!

Changed back leg, added more shading+texture, and eye detail.

Edit:

I just changed a few details like the bottom of the wing and some of the textures.

This animation took so long b/c photoshop kept doing weird things. Oh well. Just a short animation where Darkwing blinks and bounces his wings.

Edit: I think I'll go ahead and submit it. I've gotten less feedback than usually, and I'm going to assume that means I've improved a lot since my last topic. Thanks!
(of course, if it doesn't go through, I'll be back)

Wow, I like it a lot. My only suggestion is not so much for the art, but what you use; Photoshop is overkill for pixelart, and from what I have read, makes the progress more complicated. (Which can explain your animation issues).

I use photoshop to animate. Is there anything that's easier? I am very used to photoshop by now.
I have corel painter and also paint.

I would like to use a program with layers because that will help a lot for more complicated animations.

I use PS all the time to pixel and animate and as long as you ignore most of the features and treat it like 'paint' as you are comfortable with it then keep using it.

E: I see you submitted and another mod added your piece to the gallery. In the future try not to submit while you have an ongoing WIP.
* The gallery is best for finished work as most will miss your updates and submitting as new is not allowed, k.
* Submitting implies you no longer need c+c so both the gallery page and the WIP thread will be ignored/die.
* Doing this suggests to all (especially new PJers) that this is a good habit and its not a good habit at all.
* Mods will likely let your submission just sit in the queue as we just assume its a WIP.

Jalonso, I said I was going to submit it in my last post. I don't know how to lock this.

I only replied to this topic because xhukari replied with a suggestion.
(also, I don't understand what you mean about the gallery page dying.)
