Hey, these are quite good! I especially like the weapon sprites, nice use of colors. I think your biggest problem here is readability. I feel like your trying to pack too much detail into too small of a sprite. Your best bet is to simplify to increase readability. The shield on the back sprite is probably the worst case of this, but none of it is that bad really. You also have some banding going on in a few places, giving it a few minutes and cleaning that up will make the sprite look a lot nicer. Here's an edit of a the front view for you. http://s520.photobucket.com/user/adcrusher/media/Image3_zps489f85b7.gif.html">  Your use of black seemed a bit weird, it was difficult to figure out why you were using it in the places you did.
