So.. maybe this wont be a friendly message. It might come off as passive aggressive. Idk that's for you to decide. But everything i have ever posted to the gallery has been denied and is not deemed "pixel art" by pixel joint standards.. Alright i get it. There is a certain method all you go by to make this "pixel art" i more or less use it in my pieces. However.. regardless of how each pixel was placed as long as it clearly shows that the image is composed of a limited number of flat pixels it seems to me to be "pixel art" Guess i misunderstood the standards of this place. Personally i feel like these rules are a bit limiting. Not to say that people can't work extremely well within those limits. But there seems to be an elitist craft mentality that pumps this websites blood. I can argue that i think these rules are a bit closed minded, but this isn't my website and i'm not gonna fight to share what i like to experiment with in my "pixel art". So please just delete my posts. There are plenty of other places i can post this stuff to. I really have lost interest in proving myself to people i don't know. To me art should be about having fun and expressing yourself and ideas, but this place is solely about craft... Alright fine enough. Good day to you guys

For the record you're not alone. But some of us stay for the community. Not everyone here actually pixels, some of us just chatter a lot. XD

Craft is very important to pixelart. By its very nature controlling pixels is key.
You have good ideas and certainly are creative. Your submissions are almost there. You simply need to control the pixels. Just using pixels is not quite enough.
You have been here long enough and have been shown this distinction enough times that it should make sense. Don't close yourself and don't feel you are being stifled, forced or limited because you are not...you are being helped by others.

I just don't believe in that i guess. So i am probably closing myself off to you guys. I know you all are trying to help me. I understand if i follow your guidelines i will have some well polished pixel art, but i actually enjoy the imperfections very much. So if that's not pixel art to you then so be it y'know. I guess my stuff would fall under "oekaki" which to me there is no real difference besides one method of working is fully zoomed in the majority of the time and the other is probably not. It's just a semantics type argument to me.
It would be definitely lame of me to write this whole place off. You guys did help me with some stuff i was working on and i'm really appreciative of that. I just don't really dig these submission rules. So I just wont try to participate in them anymore.

This is one of my earliest submissions. I'll let you figure out how that went.

Like I said, some of us stay for the conversations. You're more than welcome to hang around.

Its not semantics at all.
Oekaki = No need to control pixels
Pixelart = Must control pixels

You are welcome here anytime.

What if you're so in tune with your pixels that there is no control, rather a oneness?

Then you are far advanced for PJ and should find the nearest mountain top and just visualize it all as you wait for pilgrims to vast in your glow.

I don't agree with that definition of pixelart. But that's just me i guess. I will always think it's splitting hairs. Controlling pixels is just a different technique of using pixels to make art.
