Hiya,
I've been working on a little DPaint style pixel editor (Basically I'm old and I miss DPaint) currently I am looking for more testers and feedback.
Its currently working but in an early state and I'm targetting Windows/Android/Linux/RaspberryPI (maybe OSX soon) so it runs on almost everything and apart from the retro dpaint keys I'm also trying to get a tablet touch interface useable.
I'm trying to keep in contact with testers via gplus and a custom circle (Its an experiment in beta testing) so add me on gplus and say hi if you would like to help me test this thing and guide its future.

So you expect people to pay you for the honour of testing and giving feedback?
For a DP-ish pixel editor there is grafx2 which is free as in beer and open source.

No,
I expect people to talk to me to get a *free* copy.
I'm afraid grafx2 is not as good as I would like it to be, otherwise I would *happily* use it, I'm not interested in reinventing wheels for no good reason.
Promotion is good, however its locked into windows and doesn't like wine too much.
So really there is nothing that does what I want without me having to boot into windows.
Finally if you want to get into an opensource pissing contest then I would point out that swanky paint is built on a custom open source engine I've been working on called gamecake.
http://cake.4lfa.com/
and that contains all of the low level code distributed via BSD style licenses.
The rest of the source is pure lua and comes with the release, there is nothing that a slightly educated user can not tweak. If anything it's more tweakable at the source level than most fully opensource projects.
Yes, I intend to use a distribution system I've recently built to distribute software that I have recently built.
Yes that includes a mild paywall but its actually more than that. Mostly the reason for this is that I've personally found out over the years that people do not value free software.
So you can blame the audience.

I never had an Amiga and am not familiar with Deluxe Paint, so I can't speak much for the clone aspect. I need to play with it some more. I had issues trying to load and save pngs, folder tree navigation troubles. But I bet that is nothing you don't know. Bloom is awesome, but you know that too, eh? :) I will use it for some Pixeljoint avatars since it seems to be coded currently for 64x64 image size. I will reply again later, thanks for letting me try your app out!
