Hello pixeljoint fellows,

I noticed that the link to my gallery doesn't read well, i.e. www.pixeljoint.com/p/23966.htm

Would it be possible to implement something like www.pixeljoint.com/BrightBit for everyone? Where the username is used as a subdomain instead of a random number.

It's just a detail and I totally understand that it might not get the highest priority but I think it's not unimportant and looks a bit more professional when someone is sharing the link to his or her gallery.

Greetings
BrightBit

I believe that's so New, WS, HoF, Random PA, Challenges and Trophys and communiques get linked automatically to pages and any images...

...*drawback of artsy folk vs. coding.

^ that in no way precludes serving the same information at an additional path, or doing a two-way aliasing between id=23966 and id=BrightBit so they were 100% equivalent in effect.

That said I'm aware that the PixelJoint code is both crufty and poorly maintained, so even though it is possible, it's unlikely to actually happen.

Hi, thank you and sorry for my late response:

@jalonso: Is neota's approach possible in your opinion? I am a programmer (a C++ programmer, though). Could I look into the sources so I might be able to help?

^ FWIW PixelJoint is written using
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Server_Pages - ASP , which is somewhat like mutant PHP.

IMO if we really want to -properly- fix anything about PJ, it needs to end up version-controlled, on a site like GitHub or Gitorious, so work can be properly coordinated.

Oy! BrightBit! Take a number and http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=21 - wait your turn ! Some of us were here first.

I'll give you the cliffnotes version of the story. All the admins are dead. Until they return any and all ideas for improving PJ are pointless theories.
