Hi guys,
I am assuming there is a unique set of conventions/limitations to choosing colours for sprites. I would like to know how many different colours there should be, whether there is priority between colours in terms of prominence, and how many different shades of each colour should have. I'm new to pixel art/sprites, and colour theory in general so yeah, your help will be much appreciated lol.

There is no rule to this. Its based on your project specs but as with any pixelart the less the better.
