Hey there. I received a message stating that one of my pixel pieces has been removed (titled "California Girl"), and I'm wondering if I can follow up on exactly why it was removed and what I can do in the future to prevent this from happening.

Thanks!

You are new and all your art just sat a little longer so we could go thru each one and inspect and stuff (just the technical). Everything looked ok and some are really cute.
That California Girl however was ultimately considered oekeki and not pixelart. Yes its made of pixels. Yes it was a good job. However, it simply lacked far too much control on the pixel level to jump into the pixelart category. Oekaki is pixelart related but not the same thing.
Any question at all you just ask. If you feel we erred in evaluating that piece then you are of course welcome and encouraged to state where we made an error.

Once we get to know you your art does get added much quicker, k.

Thank you for the quick feedback. I appreciate it! :)

Totally understood. While I did intentionally draw the piece to be thick lined, I understand how it may not necessarily qualify as is. I'll be sure to polish it up and repost it once I've given it the time it needs. I'll be able to post an updated version in the WIP section in the forums before uploading it to the gallery, right?

And I'm in no rush to have my items uploaded any quicker or with less review than any other member. It takes however long it takes, and I'm under no expectation that I should be an exception to that. After all, like you said, I'm new and it's going to take time before the team is more familiar with my style of pixel art. I figured that was the case.

Thanks again! :)

The forum is there for help so a WIP thread is always a good way to get a second set of eyes. Highly encouraged.

Again, we don't judge or evaluate creative expression, art themes, concepts and stuff like that.
Just pixelart and pixelling techniques the purer the better but we all want to see the 'new' and learn.

Welcome to PJ :)

btw, its not really 'the team' that makes decisions. We go by PJer voting in the public queue. We mostly monitor the voting and inspect when its heavy on the 'no' as something must be wrong. We do make our own calls too but we try to go by consensus as much as possible considering we are dealing with art.
