well, this is pretty much just an experiment piece, based off memory of a drawing done about a year ago. [just kinda popped in my head].

Basically, I want to know if this is how you would do the lighting from the flame around his hand. I've not much experience in actually making a lightsource and following it; I usually just assume there is one somewhere. also I'd like to know what you think about the scanline-ish dither pattern I've followed making it. Yes, it's dark. it's supposed to be :p

The first picture being before the glow, obviously, the second being my first take on the glow, and the third being a stronger take on the glow.

you are uding too much dithers and scanlines imho, it only makes it messy. and the glow off the fire should be a purplish colour, not red/brown

It looks good but I think a pink light bouncing on flesh gives a yellow
glow. Imagine a circle around the flame and all the highlights in those
areas should be in a brighter yellow than the one you are using here.

snader: well, I was going for a TV type image. I've got abit more done on it since last night. the whole scanline type thing was the idea I had in my mind while working on it.

jalonso: yellowish you say? I'll give it a shot :)

[edit] updated, with the yellowish tint.

yes, but not all his body, just the face, hair. right shoulder, and a
little on his shirt. all else go with the red. Bear in mind that its a small
source of light.
