| Is it possible you can list the RGB values of each of the colors so I can make sure I got the right ones? Graphics Gale in 8-bit mode can get funny with new colors and change them against your consent. |

I saw the challenge this morning, so I'm searching for some concepts atm.
Thought of a Rubik's Sword. Quick WIP here: 
EDIT: Got some trouble with the blade's highlights, but there's progress. Need some work on AA as well. EDIT2: Added some details. EDIT3: Shades and shenanigans. 
EDIT4: Changed the blade concept. Much easier to add details on. I might redo the hilt and grip, they look ugly. |

@ Kaishido Cool idea to arrange the cubes in that way.  -- The first thing that came to my mind were MMO Icons  The cross is just a placeholder. I want to fill these with more interestings things like weapons, portraits and fanatsy art props  |

edit - could someone make sure my colors are correct? I 'dropper tool'd' all of the required colors, but my program keeps displaying different saturation values every time I reselect the same color. thanks

Damn I like almost every one posted here so far. Kaishido, the highlights on your first one looked really good, I would at least add some of that to the beveled edges. Here's what I got so far, some kinda super-perspective jail cell. Might go for something less mundane and flip it upside down for an escape from an airship. Or maybe both? Gonna try for only 8 colors - the six + transparent + black.   <- Unified the palette a bit, I'll work those other colors in somehow. Don't think the eye is gonna stay... |

I've chosen the cocking wrong thing to do again, I hate animals! I would welcome any tips on how to render the feathers, and any other issues you can identify. BTW I hate trees too. |

| @strzelec, I'm really no expert on these things but the buttock shadow seems a bit strong? Doesn't quite look the like the legs join up. As for the rest of the anatomy, I'll let you know when I stop pixeling feathers and actually speak to a woman :) |

Just to make sure I don't end up inadvertantly breaking rules: Do the colors used in the preview picture (i.e. small detail) count toward the overall color limit? Also, would anyone be mad if a certain section of an animation happened to be getting faster and faster as the .gif played? I would show you what I mean, but it would take another day to get it ready. I'm asking because if I don't make it faster over time the whole thing will break. |

No just clean them up by making them purdy. Here you don't need to AA because if done right all the jaggies can be hidden behind the grid overlay. This goes for the window light thing too. Use that grid to work for you. * tbh, I fully expected the reason for the grid was for that illusion so I zoomed to see the magic... :( ------------- |

Well, I'll see what I can do to fix this, but if I run out of time, I'll have to submit this one. I'll try to post some fixes to see if I did any better with the light rays. UPDATE: Before I start applying this to every frame, I decided to pick out one: How's this look?  |

First thing first. AA is used to smooth that which pure pixels cannot do. Ideally you want to just pixel purely and use technique variations as a last resort. What you did in your update is cool because you used AA to correct/smooth what is 'technically' a bad line. What I was trying to get at is that there are other options to be pure and use no technique such as AA if you plan the of use visual tricks to work for you. In my edit the line angles are not correct or line up at all but the grid fools the eye. I used the foreground grid or bars or whatever they are to hide every jaggy and the isolated bits you can't then hide by force. Of course the angle of the light rays will change which in this case it did not seem to matter much so its a smarter design choice. Sometimes you can't and have to AA. Its all about the pixel at hand.  ------------- |

I see what you mean, sensei, and I saw what that was doing to my lines. I'm glad that I wasn't actually too far off what you were saying. I did try that, and I found that messed with the trajectory of the light rays too much for me. So, I went with AA. Turning all the lines into a 1:1 line with it breaking behind the bars made it change course slightly, and I wanted the light ray to appear to be expanding over time.Doing that messed with their appearance too much. However, I do like what it did the light frame (or whatever the technical phrase is; the light window). It worked with that very well. I see what you've done, and I've already applied my personal fix to the project. I will remember what you showed me, and apply it to future pieces. The last thing I want to cover before I stop monopolizing this forum is the finishing touches: this  I was struggling with this a lot more than I thought I would, so I wanted some feedback.
