EDIT: Posted new version.

OK, I'm going to go insane doing this thing. The logic behind this lesson in pixel torture is this:

hey mag you should totally make something like Elk's Deathwing, but bigger for more coolbean points
edit: now the same size. you win elk ;_;

sounds like a perfectly reasonable and not completely insane idea, imadoit

At least I've got the http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/87236.htm - bust of Perfect Chaos done . I'll admit though the crazy buildings are giving me trouble. Does any one know a good brush or method to draw out ditering without going pixel by pixel so that way I don't go crazy doing the skyline at the very least? Also suggestions and CC would be appreciated. xD

I'm not digging the composition right now. Because of the flat, in-profile positioning of Perfect Chaos, I'm not sure how you would continue the piece using the work you've already done. However, being a downer is a little silly. Graphicsgale has the option to set the brush to paint a standard dither automatically, as well as a few other patterns. Really working on composition will also help you know where your skyscrapers should be, and that's going to be helpful too. The texture and scale is awesome. Try new things with composition!

@SuperTurnip - Thanks, you're right! I've gone ahead and changed the composition of it, making it more like a scene, a vain perfect chaos almost laughing at the tiny golden creature in front of him. Also I'm trying out that trick that Pel did for his massive sprite, scaling down the background and working with that.

@Limes - You're telling me. @.@

Also, is there a good dithering solution in photoshop, since that's my main pixel art suite atm. I don't mind having to use graphicsgale for a short time, just curious if there are other options.

Pretty nice dithering going on, the clouds look like they could be refined better some more imo.

It's impressive as hell but just doesn't look good. Everything looks flat and boring. The reason elks pieces work is because it has depth and really solid fundamentals behind the pieces. Also, it may be of note that elk didn't use huge pixel spaces to add crazy surface texturing detail, but to add more detail of form of the objects depicted

Chaos has highlights in front of him and in the back, you need to put there some light source to explain them if you want to make it more realistic.
