Hi there pixeljoint peeps. I've always loved pixelart but never really tried it myself, but I decided to do just that some weeks ago. I read/watched a lot of tutorials including the ones on here but I still need to improve a lot.

I'm making a game with a friend and we want to make it retro style. So I need to make assets for that, which is a perfect opportunity to learn. It's a top-down space shooter so we need some spaceships.

This is the spaceship I just made. If you guys could give me some feedback/thoughts that would be great.

From a purely pixelart standpoint unless game assets will be 2X or more you have a lot of useless colors but its not that big a deal too even if 1X. Its just a pure pixellling 'thang'.

The ship looks nice, not seeing the environment.
You get huge props for not mirroring. But if your game project does not contain this lightsource throughout or if the game has lots of lighting from planets and FX and stuff then maybe you should consider mirroing so in gameplay it makes more sense.

Planning goes a long way to help a project, k.

Thanks for the feedback jalonso!

I figured my I have a lot of unused colors in my palet, since I did not pay that much attention to it and do not fully grasp the thought process behind palets yet.

There wont be active lighting in the game so the lightsource is okay. I'll use the same lightsource for the other assets.

This is not a bad thing and not coming down on you at all, k.
In my experience when PJers add art to the WIP section for c+c (meaning unfinished) and then submit to the gallery (finished) at the same time then most are likely to give you less and less feedback of any kind over time until you get none at all.
PJers are artists too and like to work on their own pixels but will share their wisdom when they feel its not a waste of their time.

That sounds very understandable and it was inconsidarate to do that. I be sure to keep that in mind for my next posts. I am definitely passionate about learning pixel art and a becoming a regular PJer.

Thanks for the heads up!
