hello there :)
I'm now starting the fifth part of my serie :)
here we go

Again, it's built upon the golden number

This one will be a little bit more darker. I plan to blend clouds into the night as the upper towers.
For the building I took inspiration from one of my favorite artist named Fran?ois Schuiten:

(If you love my work you should for sure read the amazing comics from him "Les Cit?s Obscures")
and an illustration for Oz's Wizard movie

and of caurse, arabian/russian architecture

I'll maybe need to redo the man. Not sure that his attitude looks natural. As you can see I'm working on light. Light is very important in this picture.

What I am noticing is the sand dunes obviously have shape but the character and the footprints defy those shapes immediately and it ruins the whole look of all the dunes making it appear flat. Also the need to come up and touch the sky a bit. The city looks epic btw I really like the themes you are doing with this series.

If you expand it again upwards that'd be epic I think!

I think 16:9 would be nice, so a little wider. It's a very cinematic scene.

Hey, thank you peoples :) I believe it will not be necessary to expand it again. 16:9 is wide but not nice as golden number scale ;) If you look at the picture you will notire a first golden rectangle, a square and a second golden rectangle as the canvas.
Here some progress of the right clouds... :)
It's fun how the symbolism in the picture match my current life since some weeks...

Excuse me if I am mistaken but the meaning of this is that the character is leaving behind work and dreaming? IE papers flying away represents him leaving behind everything for some kind of dream that is out of his reach but he strives for it anyways? That makes this waaaaay cooler. Awesome work btw, his jacket could use some reworking eventually. He even wears the outfit of a business man so it makes sense that his stress and work would have to do with papers.
I was thinking about this but instead of the walking man it had a guy with a wide stance gazing up at the city. Interested in how that would work, It might ruin some symbolism.
Is this the finale to your lucid dreams work? I adore how you can see plain obvious improvements as an artist in the series.

Thank you Limes for being interested into this project... :) Well the business suit doesn't fit at all to the spirit of the picture. The man is more like an investigator or stranger, seeking for himself, someone, Maybe an important forgotten place. You get the main idea of the pictures anyway... More precision on the final release of the picture.
This is the fifth part of the serie on twelves pictures designed between 2008 and 2009, also there is a kind of "storyline" between each pictures.
And of caurse, I'm far to the end with this piece, obviously I need to fully design the man and the desert.
Stay tuned ;)

I love this piece too death. Once it is done i will be using it as a desk top and possibly phone background. I would love to see a whole series based off of this one style and theme. Thank you so much for this beautiful piece of work. It inspires me to keep pixeling

Thank you very much!
As suggested in the thread title, this is the fifth piece of an ongoing series of twelve pictures. The first fourth are available in my galery :)
Also you may be interested in artist like François Schuiten who greatly inspired me during my childhood, and even these day actually.
And yeah, indeed, keep it up man! ;)

I'm sorry for taking some huge amount of time for making my artwork, but I'm professionally really busy... I try to keep active this thread anyway. Thank you for following me :)
Here some new progression on clouds. I really need to prepare a nice and convincing blend into the bottom dark... It's way too contrasted for now...

Monstrous work on the sand.
But why did you remove paper?
It looked well and now picture is a bit empty without it.

Don't worry, papers will be back ;)

Hmmm the dunes still don't have as much an impact as I feel they should have… They still look rather flat. All you need to do is bring them up in the BG and they should look nicer.
