I am working on developing a style for the tiles of a project I am working on. It is in the top-down perspective of a Legend of Zelda game. This is what I have so far, and I want some help expanding the piece as well as smoothing out any imperfections that might already be present

this is my second successful attempt at creating something I was remotely happy with but I know it isn't done (the tiles are 32x32 and this is a 3 by 3 with 2 variants)

They look good, though maybe a little too much like an edit of beetleking's stuff. I'd love to see a test map of an environment with all your different assets. It's a rock face, but what's it separating?

Cyangmou has a bunch of http://cyangmou.deviantart.com/gallery/37668128/Tutorials - good guides concerning 3/4 RPG rendering and tile construction that can really help with deeper understanding.

Even with your variants they're still adhering to the same (very obvious) diagonal grid. I'm not sure if that is what you want?

This is my latest attempt at solidifying the tileset
