Hello everyone :)
I http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19420&PN=1&EN=TS - posted here before about this project back when it was just beginning. The project is still going, but we could still use some more people :)
The basic idea of the game is to use an RPG to teach people a foreign language. Currently you can try to learn Brazilian Portuguese and Chinese (Mandarin with traditional characters) by playing.
We've been using free tilesets so far, but mostly stickmen for the characters :) It would be cool to have people to make some sprites or tiles :)
I think we could also use someone to make maps using existing tiles that we have. I'm just not very good at making maps look good and be fun to walk around and things, nor am I great at making puzzles, so if anyone would like to help with those things, it would be appreciated :)
We don't really have a timeline for this project, and we're all basically just working on it for fun, with the possibility of profit sharing in the future.
We have some cool concept art http://lingwen.wyrmmage.com/posts/concept-art/ - here , if you'd like to check it out :)
If you have any interest in testing the game or helping out in some other aspect, then that could be cool, too :)

I'm interested, what size are your sprites? I can do 32X32 sprites extremely well.

Hey guys :)
Lee0z joined us for a bit and made a nice sprite for our main character, but we're still looking for some more people to do spriting or other work on the game. If anyone is interested, please let me know :)
Also, here is some promotional art for the game, just because :)

Hello again everyone :)
Lee0z was kind enough to make us an animated sprite for the main character, but we haven't heard from her in awhile, and we could perhaps use some more help anyway, so we're looking around for some more people to do sprites for the game. If you're interested, please let me know :)

Hello again :)
We've just published our first small release of the game. If you're interested in doing pixel art for us (particularly characters :) ), please let me know :) We'd also be happy for you just to play the game :)
Here's a description of the game.
LingWen is a role playing game that is designed to teach people a foreign language but also be fun to play :) Currently the game only teaches Chinese, but, God willing, we'd like to perhaps teach other languages at some point.
The game is in early alpha and currently only teaches the basics of Chinese, including pronunciation and characters. At its current stage, it's most suitable for people who have never learned any Chinese or are extreme beginners in Chinese.
If this sounds interesting, please http://lingwen.wyrmmage.com - check LingWen out and let us know what you think :)
The current release is free :) We only have a release for Windows at this time, but if people are interested in seeing the game on other platforms, please post and let us know :)
Thanks :)

I wouldn't recommend posting your concept art publicly, or at least as visibly as you do on the site. The "concept art" that big companies often share isn't actual concept art, but specially made promotional art, or, at best, concept art that's been polished up. Real concept art is interesting to some people, but for the most part, it just looks unpolished and can make your game look bad since people are expecting polished artwork. Even indie games have expectations placed on them xP When you subvert the expectation of polish in your promotion, it can make people wonder if your game also subverts the expectation of polish.
I hope that bit of feedback is helpful, though I realize it's not very positive. I'm really looking forward to seeing this game finished, and I wish I could do something more helpful than critique how you do your promotion, but alas, I have my hands full with my own projects.

Thanks for the feedback, eishiya :) I'll have to think about what you've said.
