Hi, I'm the programmer for a console style RPG for Windows computers, codenamed "Rhapsody." We've been working on the game engine off and on for probably around a year now, and it's getting fairly close to completion. Halffish is working on all the sprites, and Adrian is drawing the backdrops. Halffish has been extremely busy with college and I am looking for another artist to help take some of the load off of drawing the sprites. I have worked with many artists from these forums in the past, I coded two games for different 72 hour competitions, one with Krut and Tylor, another with Ndeal and Darion. We are planning on releasing this project as freeware, so I can't offer any pay. I'm looking for someone who is interested in making a quality game, and maybe one of the last great snes-era RPG. If for any reason we decide to sell the game, it would have to be a group decision and everyone would be making royalties.

Now for some screenshots..

The game is influenced by Chrono Trigger, the Breath of Fire series, and Grandia I & II. If you are interested in the project, I will gladly send you a demo of the engine so you can see for yourself the amount of work that has gone into the game so far. I know that it is a huge task to work on an RPG, especially without monetary compensation, but we work at a very relaxed pace because both Halffish and I are college students. If you are interested or have more questions about the project feel free to ask by replying to the post or contacting me directly.

This project looks very interesting and quite unique.
If I had better skills I would take this up.

dang, I remember this project from pixelation.

I'm glad it's still around...  I've always been impressed by it, and I'd definitely want to play it.

how does one go about back ground scenery of that style?  is it just one huge image with collision mapping or what?  looks like it's definitely time costly.

good luck guys

Hah, love the Anchorman reference.
Seems like a nice project... bit too busy now though (and I'm not even sure if I have the skills for this).

Good luck with this :)

I like the style! I can't really help right now, and I'm not very experienced with anime style graphics, but I just thought I'd say I really like the look so far. The backgrounds look especially well done, and they don't overshadow the pixel graphics too much.

Nice work and good luck with this project!

WOW, very nice looking game, and I hope you find the people needed to get this done.

I for one would love to play the game.

Thanks for all the comments. Luckily, I found someone who is perfect for the job. Anyone who is interested in the progression of the game can check out http://www.natomic.com for updates. It's encouraging to hear about the interest in the game, I often think no one will want to play this kind of game when stuff like Halo 3 is out. ;)

Ah, you're from Natomic! I knew I recognised some of those graphics. I used to hang about the Natomic boards a few years back and post my pixel art every now and then.

Again, goodluck with this game!
