Game Maker is a great tool. Too bad it's so accessible that every retard can make something thus ggiving Game Maker a bad name.
Been using it since '99 and was actually the reason I started pixeling.

Same here btg. I'm currently TRYING to learn BlitzMax, but the syntax is a bit odd and object creation has my head hurting. I finish most of my gm games though.

I've regestered and it was worth every penny in my opinion. But I serously doubt that Mark Overmars plans to make any major changes to it. He used to do an updatw like every 3 months there hasn't been one in like a year.

I frankly have no idea of programming codes or something like
that. Most I have used is RPG maker and I deleted my game for
uber suckness. I would be more useful by playing all your games and
giving an opinion heh.

The standard works if done right, I've never played with my router settings, but http://www.wanderlustgame.com - Wanderlust works fine. It's a prime example of a good GM game too. I was gonna redo the boss GFX, but they never contacted me later after giving me the position. DX

am allowed to say so... it was a retro style game, and i even had some
retro sounds and syuff. i got the idea after playing some Atari. let me
dig it up for you. it is as finished as i felt like making it at the
time.
here it is... http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1462& ;KW=retro

I used to use GM quite a bit. I joined a team and we had plans on making an online game with it, but none of us could figure out the multiplayer portion, or find anyone to join us that could.
Ive since moved on to http://www.glbasic.com/ - GLBasic . Its great for crossplatform and can be used with C++.

I never heard of Game maker but for a while I used the PC version of RPG maker, until the Japanese company that makes it sent me an e-mail about how the English version (for the PC) wasn't licensed by them and it was preventing them from releasing a real version (since everyone was getting it for free) so I trashed all my RPG maker stuff and learned flash. It's been about 5 years now and I couldn't be happier.

haha. Don Miguel DESTROYED JAPAN :(
Game maker is what introduced me to both programming and pixel art, too. Ive grown pretty good with the GM language so far, and experimented somewhat (Made a kickass lighting system with multiple light sources for one, and it doesnt even lag, darnit! :o ) I made two games for GM, hosted on www.gamingw.net : Sluggys' adventure and its sequel. The sequel was done two years ago... Now I work on way too much projects at once, and in plus got to work around with C# for college...
I put up a link to those in the welcome topic, but that was before seeing that topic, so hell im gonna put hem here two: http://www.gamingw.net/games/221 (Sluggys' adventure 1: Fun, very very hard and long. LOTS of bugs and collision problems...) http://www.gamingw.net/games/302 (Sluggy's adventure 2: Looks better than the first, but not nearly as fun, long or hard. But still good. Less buggy.)

I never tend to finish any game projects I do mostly because of the time that graphics demand and I usually only start something to see if I can do something code wise then actually creating a final project. Lately I've challenged myself to actually finish things and I've found that they take a lot more planning then I would have originally thought, even something relatively simple can take a lot of time in the planning phase if you want it to have a unique feel, so anyone that can get a finished product out (no matter what the language/program use to make it) that has any amount of production value has my respect.

I did make a game with GM a while ago. It had ripped Advance Wars graphics and it was mostly for some friends. You had a plane flying and shooting some other planes. About 5-6 levels. The last boss was a nasty red chopper. Turned out pretty good (a bit easy though).
Since I drew those penguins I keep thinking of a Worms-style game called 'Guinz. It can't get out of my head.

I'm working on a few GM games. I'm providing the pixels while my chum, Bisse gets the fun job of coding.
We've worked on loads of games that were scrapped after a few months, but the games we're working on now WILL be finished. We have 2 games in the works: A platform/puzzle game called Mr. Blocko and a game inspired by Metroid called Robot Factory.

Yup, I use it. 6.1 registered. Darn fine lil program. I don't do a lot of the GML stuff in it myself. I usually do the design and graphics and let my friends do the rest. Though right now I can't get anything done and am taking a break from the group as some pretty major crap has been happening in my life.
By the way that Robot Factory looks sorta like one of my games. Looks fun.

I kinda quit GM because I bought blitz, I HATE the gm community when it comes to graphics. Really i'm so tired of 14 year olds asking "DoEs any1 hav good SONIC ripped sprites?" It would make me very happy if the artists from the sonic games sued them all. I'm about the only person on that damn site that doesn't make rehashed clone games. HOnestly if i see any more blinding "c_lime" in games i'm gonna have to cut some hands off.
THen there is the user "yourself" who thinks he's God's gift to man. He's a smug little snot that i would like to give a pappywhippin in real life.

Exaggerating a bit ain't ya? Your attitude has really been starting to get on my nerves recently... You keep going on like you're something special.. You ain't. There are plenty of GM users who make far better games than I've seen from you from a technical aspect and from a gameplay aspect, but it would seem you're too damn busy bragging about sh*t to notice...

Strange... I was thinking the same about you. 'Yourself', on the other hand, is one of those people on the GMC who actually knows what he's talking about, and like me, hasn't got the patience for idiotic lil sh*tes.

Well, teh whole root of my anger is directed at people ripping graphics and music for games. Nothing aganst you Wolverine. When have i come across as something special? I'm a good programmer and help people when I can. Unlike Yourself who pisses and moans over trivial things like code writing style. Heaven forbid you ask a question without Yourself acting like some schoolteacher. Well, Yourself doesn't have time for little sh*ts, but I do. There are some original games but they are hard to find. I guess i went a little overboard.
Hey if you want to break ties with me that's your decision, I've nothing aganst you personally.
BTW:There isn't a Apple version.

There isn't an apple version but there is a Game Maker like App for the Mac, there's a link to it on Apple's website under "Gaming".
