Pixel'd a Jojo. Gonna submit this, thought I'd see if there was anything I could improve before I put it on the gallery. Already got a couple of tweaks on the .ase, but figured I might as well see if I've missed anything.

Any advice on how to work with transparent backgrounds would be particularly appreciated; I've been struggling with that a bit when I move away from outlines.

Also, face advice. Always face advice.

What program do you pixel with that gives you trans problems?

Contrast is a bit low.
The eyes read blurry or too close or odd or somethin'

More contrast, along with various other tweaks. I've looked back over some of my other stuff and that does seem to be a common theme. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

It's not that I'm having functional problems with transparency, I think part of it is background color? I dunno. Transparent stuff looks different depending on how bright the background is, and I'm not sure I know how to make it so that a sprite will look good on differently colored backgrounds.

This is much better as are the eyes.
I think the thumb could use a tweak. Maybe thicker by 1px?

You can't control what BG color it will be. I prefer grey Bgs to evaluate colors and is the reason I use grey PJ themes so this looks fine to me.
Sometimes, depending on the art, you have to make design choices such as black lineart, white outlines or just hope others have a sense of color.
