So here is the deal , right now we are making our own space game and my task was to make a background for the map. Its on beginners level. Ill cut straight to the point. The thing is that "Asteroids" should represent the zone that is forbidden , which means you cannot move your spaceship there. But it seems like i can not make it clear enough . Any advices ? Thanks in advance

Focus on diving areas so its clear like a platformer is. All the planets and BG asteroids that are playable including the stars could fade back and only the asteroids that are boundaries could be left as they are. That should help. Think of using colors as the visual barriers, in other words.
Moving to WIP section :)

You mean dividing areas? Like stacked sheets of paper, each with separate tone or hue level? or is diving a term I'm just unfamiliar with?
I took your level into photoshop and just edited Brightness/Contrast and Hue/Saturation for the middle area that should be "background".
edit: a friend of mine is working on Galak-Z: The Dimensional. He uses more solid blocks of asteroids that are clearly in the foreground instead of spaced out pieces. I'd think you could clutter your asteroids more, especially if they are low detail and reusable to make it even clearer that it's an impassable wall.
