Hi guys
A lot of artwork is already open licensed on the internet, and it is just sitting there, waiting to be used! I thought there must be some of it that can be 'recycled', into the OPP style. Benefits:
- Little work, a lot of result
- Using the open arts what they were made/licensed for, increasing their value and purpose
- Possibly drawing in new artists to the project by letting them and their communities know we've used their art
Any artwork that is either licensed CC-BY or artwork that is in the public domain (and CC0) can be recolored/resized/pixelled for the OPP. Make sure that the original creator gets added to the list of http://opp.opengameart.org/index.php/Contributors - contributors Suggestions of what to recycle: Pixel art that is close in style and scale to OPP (recolor) Sketches, concepts that can be turned into sprites 3D models & animations that can be rasterized and pixelled/traced over Anything else!
If you know any suitable open licensed artwork, post it here! Or get working on transferring it to the OPP style yourself!
I have already created these http://opp.opengameart.org/index.php/Clouds - clouds by recoloring the cc0 old http://opengameart.org/content/old-frogatto-clouds - Frogatto clouds Also I am working on some http://7soul1.deviantart.com/art/420-Pixel-Art-Icons-for-RPG-129892453 - public domain icons . Transforming them to a 32x32 grid and then recoloring them to DB32. My progress:
Spread the free artwork, remix!
