hey there my names jon, I created a company back in 1999 called jagged software I'm looking for a few artists for a 2½d mmorpg we're working on called avatar: ascension.
av:ascension is done in visual c++ and the client uses direct 3d 9 (for the 3d hardware acceleration - but it's cartoony 2d)
it's server-centric like all of the other successful mmorpgs, I'm the client/server programmer and have a background in server architechture and security coding.
I don't know if you've been in a persistent virtual world / mmorpg before but this isn't a copy of anything out there right now. this is trying to bring back the old school games that were very immersive and deep with great gameplay and replay value.
the concept is to create a self regulating enviroment, or ecosystem, and build the game around that. it has to be very immersive. the map is a globe, the world wraps around so there are no borders .. it will be mostly water & several continents and a lot of small islands, the main landmass being one big continent so characters are close together when they first start out. so for example you could sail around the world while treasure hunting on the islands you find if you wanted.

we are in dire need of lead artists in the categories: foliage/scenery isometric ground tiles objects/items monsters buildings we need other artists as well, any way you can contribute
