Hi everyone.
I'm new here, so please bear with me, but i'm hoping someone here can help me out.
I've decided to do something a bit different for a college project that involves me recreating the style of the ZX Spectrum.
I'm only using its origanal 8 colours (15 if I feel that adventurous) and I am going to try and recreate the pixelated look the best I can.
The image I am creating is of a platform game, and will be printed at 600x200mm. So I need to be able to make it fairly large without the pixels going blury and losing the effect.
I'm not going to make anything that looks amazingly detailed, its going to be very basic and simple with simple shapes and shading techniques.
So that brings me to my main question. What kind of precautions should I use? What tool (In Photoshop CS) to use? etc. I've heard things about anti-aliasing, but have no idea what it is?!

Thanks in advance
-Edd

use the pencil tool and place every pixel by hand. obviously u can
use the fill tool but no blur tools, filters brushes, just pencil and your
8 colours. Antialiasing is a technique used to soften lines. i suggest
your read some tutorials first. check the tutorial topic for some good
links!

Can you anti-alias with only 5 different colours though?

You can use programs to edit a picture's colors, but not in a way that increases the color count.

As the guys have pointed out. Use the pencil tool in Photoshop.
If you wish to scale up the image make sure you have 'nearest neighbour' picked in the 'resize image' panel otherwise the pixels will become filtered (blurred if enlarged and blended is reduced).
