Progress:

Quick animation:
I'm bad at animating.
Original version:

Hoping to get a fresh pair of eyes on this. I look at the overall appearance and can tell that something is off. I feel like the palette and shading is bad.
Opinions?

Current version:

The placement of the horn are off for me. Too close to the eyebrows and eyes.

Something about the chin shadows reads like a beard to me in all variations.

The dark on the bridge of the nose seems wasted in emphasising something not needed at all. Noses are all different but the nose seems very thick for such fine nostrils.

It looks good, k. Just nitpicking for youy :)

Thanks, Jalonso. I really need some good nitpicking.

Before:

After:

I messed around with the face shape and chin shadows. The shadows kinda reads like mutton chops now. I'm trying to figure out how to suggest cheek bones. I'm going to keep trying.

Edit:
Updated horns and changed darkest color to dark green.

Anyone have tips for the hair highlights? I want the hair to look a bit shiny. However, I don't know how to lay down that light color in a clean way.

Edit:
Minor change to the eyes and alternate palette

I made her hair look a bit more natural. Thoughts?

I think the highlights on the hair looked better before.

This one gives me the impression of a headband.

I see what you mean. I just felt like the old clusters looked very unrefined.

Those horns are still a bit close for my liking. That could be because her forehead is way to small. Have a look at some facial anatomy and I think you'll see what I mean. Also, depending on the light source, the horns might cast a shadow, which might help create more volume.

Interesting. Is this far enough? How do you guys go about deciding proper horn placement? I raised the hair up higher. Smoothing out the hair made me lose a bit of her ear. I made her hair look a little bit more messy.

I think the hair looks much more natural now!

The horn placement looks better to me, too.

In the animated GIF, the wind seems to be blowing upwardly instead of right-to-left.

I've decided against doing the animation.

Back again with a few edits.

Modified the palette again
Gave her clothes
Tried to see what long horns would look like(im not a fan)

Admittedly, I didn't intend on giving her clothes. However, I felt like she needed a bit more to look at. I'm not quite sure what era this type of outfit would belong to.

Color balance edit:

The darkest shade is now used for the hair, skin, and clothes. It should look a little bit more cohesive.

I think it is nearly done. I'll give it a second look before submitting.
