Does anyone use a "download manager" or "download accelerator"?  I used to use one and it worked great, but I don't remember the name.

After a quick Google search I found:
  • GetRight
  • Internet Download Manager
  • FlashGet
  • Fresh Download
  • Go!Zilla
  • NetVampire
  • NetAnts
  • ReGet
Any of those names ring a bell?

I never use a download manager myself though... I have a fast internet connection and FireFox, which allows you to pause and resume downloads.

Firefox is definitely very nice, but I use a few sites that only IE supports so I usually just end up using IE.

Thx Blueberry.  It was Internet Download Manager. I couldn't find the damn thing.  Isn't FlashGet spyware?

Hehe, sorry for mentioning some spyware
I wouldn't really know what's spyware and what's not, since I don't use any of those programs... I just did a Google search for 'download manager' and listed the sites it returned

Also, about spyware... I heard Windows AntiSpyware was pretty good too, even though it's made by... Microsoft

IDM works great, I tried using Flashget, but my GIANT Antispyware completely wiped it...

the flight simulator series make up for some good games. i'm not saying i enjoy playing them (i get bored after .. 5 minutes of it), but they're very well done.

yeah, age of empires is good too. i'm not really into rts though - i'm more into the slower pace of games such as simcity

I had some friends who played that with PC's networked in my friends house... I hated it... I really did.  So damn boring but then I don't usually like these types of games.... though the original Settlers on Amiga will always be special to me.

Well, it sounds like it's more of a criticism of the genre -- the games are very well made and if you're a fan of the RTS genre (which I am) you have to give props to the "Age" games.  Blizzard is the only company that does better.

No I liked Warcraft 2... great sense of humor and lovely lil characters.  I did not like Starcraft at all though.  But yeah I generally don't like RTS games so very few keep me entertained.  I just prefer games I feel more directly involved in like controlling a fighter or a marine with a gun in Contra type games.  Controlling thousands of people from high up above just makes me feel too distanced.  Prefer to be actually carrying out actions rather than giving orders with a mouse pointer.  Same reason I don't particularly like turn based RPGs either since they're usually about giving out orders via a menu and waiting for the characters to perform them though I've played some platformers with such unresponsive controls that they feel similar.

ahh yes warcraft kicked ass specialy two.... and for your infomation
windows is the worst operateing and most unstable one i know, out of
the three big cats anyways, i mean are you pc users realy that stupid
that u need a start button? plus all the crashes n viruses and the
crappy software, shore other computers like macs may cost more,
but the actual operateing system costs less, and its better, i would
pay more for a better product anyways lts svae ourselves an
argument.....by skipping back to tyhe topic at hand..... download
software..
