Hey um.. im not so good at shading things.. this thing has some anatomy in it. i mean i have this chest and legs... so im not so good at shading these.. not talk about making an artline of head, shoulders, legs hands etc... so can you please help me shade that thing? o.o

as you can see i have tried shading it , yet it dosent look so good.. also when it comes to basically smaller pixel arts.. its harder for me to shade things and make them look good-shaded. sorry if my english is bad.. and thank you!

The WIP forum is where you go to get feedback/help with your art, not Resources and Support. People are probably not replying because
1. the right people aren't seeing this post because they're all in the WIP forum
2. they don't want to perpetuate a broken thread (broken in that it's not in the right place)

Instead of relying on other people to show you how to do this particular sprite better, study the things that are giving you trouble! You're clearly trying to stylize real male anatomy, so study that and how it looks in different lighting and then apply your knowledge to this thing. There is no shortage of reference for that. The two problems with it so far is the abdomen anatomy is off, and you're trying to add shadows without thinking about a light source.

Echoing Eishiya, you should look up and study anatomy.

I'm not too good at shading or light sources, but i think your issue is your relative lack of contrast for your palette.

Here's my quick attempt (has minor small changes to the actual body, most are colours/shading changes):

allright i pretty much know now that i need to learn about shading as anatomy and such.. can you guys please recommend me on sources/how to learn this? and by the way when i try to add another layer of a brighter color(couldnt explain it in a better way, you know what i mean) it didnt look so good.. any idea why it allways happens to me when i draw small pixel art? thanks!

You could simply look at photos of people. There are lots of anatomy tutorials out there, just search for them (google, dA, tumblr, etc). I don't have any I can recommend off-hand. However, there is http://androidarts.com/art_tut.htm - this more general tutorial that talks a lot about construction and colour. I recommend giving it a read, and rereading it every few months. There's so much great info there that you'll likely learn something new even when re-reading it. A lot of it applies to pixel art.

With small pixel art, every colour has a greater impact because it's often juxtaposed with contrasting colours just as a result of the piece being small, there's very little buffer between colours because there's no space. You often don't need extra colours as long as your construction is good and you're careful with your shapes. Even in AshCrimson's edit, that darkest colour is not really needed, the other two would be enough to convey all the information. It's hard to give you specific feedback on where to shade because you haven't defined a light source.
