I've made this little animation according to this story (translated from French) :

Valentine Sâhib is Indian by her blood. She was born on February 8, 1805 in the principality from Mysore. Her mother and her three sisters were murdered during an insurection by British officers. According to her memories, her father was one of the rare survivors. Kidnapped by the British army, she was sold at a house of joy of Southampton where she nourishes her feelings of revenge. For a few years, she has regularly received mysterious gifts coming from an unknown captain. Ingres Paintings, Gramophone and an amazing mobile lamp using static electricity. She secretly thinks that all these gifts could come from her father who would be Nemo.

Original text :

It's a 165x185 animated gif with 8 frames using a constant palette of 30 unique colors.

The thing is ... I don't really like the result, I spent quite a long time on it. It looks a bit too amateur. I don't know how I may improve it. I need some feedbacks and comments ...

-> Using alkaline url instead of deviantART ...

Deviant art doesn't let you do that. Here.

Looks pretty good. What's the circle thingy at the top? A lamp? I can't really tell what it is unless you told me, which you did.

alkaline, it was supposed to be an artefact sent by Nemo. It's a eletro-static lamp that produces light when you make it spin. It is quite avantgardist for the century, but it looks weird.

Sorry to be a so bad pixelartist ...

I love it man! The light reflections are exelent! I wished the girl had a breathing animation though

Don't be silly - just know one is really familiar with an eletro-static lamp..
Very nice so far.. the light has a strong effect on this and looks great.. good style.

I updated the animation ... I made her breathe (well I tried at least), I changed the light effect and I also tried to make her turn her head.

The breathing is good.. perhaps slow that down just a bit.

instead of moving the stomach, you should move the breasts up a bit
with the breaths.

This is really neat -- where is the text from?

The whole torso, really -- up/out and down/in.

The head turn is reading as... creepy, somehow. Maybe because she turns her head so far without moving her shoulders at all. It may also be because she opens her eyes first -- it's common to close your eyes at least partially when you turn your head quickly. You might try leaving them closed until she completes the turn.

The skin pallate is a little odd. Looks more red than tannish.

I would try to make the strap on her leg look less painted on. Also, the entire chest cavity moves up and out when breathing, not just the stomach.

Every pixel counts, even the dead ones.

Well, thank you for all your critics and comments. I'm learning a lot doing this kind of short animations. I think I was a bit too enthousiast starting this one as it's quite complex ... It showed me how hard it is drawing human body and mouvement. I'll not update this animation for now and try something else.
