so my friend contacted me last night and asked me to draw them. based on their military photo.

long story short I was up all night

here was the result by morning

the colors were kind of washed out...
I got the idea why not use the colors from the actual creation of Adam

I then figured why not go all the way and add the cracks...this was where I used kind of a cheap cop out.... I found a high quality photo of the original and used a sketch filter to make separating the cracks a breeze...just whited out the rest of the paining and applied the cracks as a low opacity mask then reapplied the pallete

So tell me what you think, and How I can continue to improve it

well i dont think this is really pixel art at all. its clear you just painted over the original painting with its own colours. same with the face you put on the guy.

it looks pretty nice but it doesnt belong here

fair enough its not pixel art...but I put it here because it can be made better through pixel art techniques. I want the communities help to improve this piece. I wanna use this as my medium to learn a bit. tutorials on the internet never really helped as much as trial and error. I have been very selective with my palette and its not a completely true to the original Creation of Adam palette, I just brought it closer then it was before. during this switch I changed up some of the lighting on my friends face...this was particularly difficult since it was taking away all ties to the reference and made me depend of the lighting of the piece to influence his face. Scaling was particularly time consuming as he is not particularly tall and so I skewed the angle to help emphasize this. This has a long way to go and I think I need to roll back to the second version to improve the overall quality. If i need to move the piece thats fine just let me know because I came for help

Its ok to post NPA WIPs in the forum.
Usually PJers label the thread NPA but even that is not required.
