Hello, everyone.
I need some help with scenery. When it comes to things like backgrounds, decorations and tile sets I am stumped - I don't even know where to begin. What should I be studying and practicing to hone this part of my mastery?

post some examples of what you can do and people can help, but as is this question is basically "how do I pixel art" if that is your question, there are some great tutorials you can find here. I like to study work that I really like to see if I can figure out why I like it. If you're stumped on where to begin... make a grass tile, when thats good, put something on the grass tile (flower, rocks, etc), when thats good add more. And so on until you have a background

Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't know the appropriate place to post if I didn't necessarily have anything to show right away.

I spent most of today studying terrain techniques and going through a copious amount of trial-and-error to come up with some basic tiles. I still have a lot more to do (like proper corner pieces) but this is a good start, I think. My biggest problem was that I was too ambitious with my initial thought. I just needed to do something very small and basic and the details would come to me in the process. I am still learning how I work best!
