Hey I'm pretty new to both pixelling and the PJ community and, as such, had a question I hoped some more experienced people might be able to answer for me.

Basically all my work seems to be very 'smooth' and vector-y as opposed to pixelled like most the work i've seen on here and on game like Hyper Light Drifter, Sword and Sorcery etc. etc.

I was just wondering wheter this was due to having very basic technique in shading/dithering etc. (i've done a few entry level tutorials but nothing too advanced) or it is just my 'style' and not something that i need to worry about correcting too much?

Have included two of my most recent works to try and highlight what i mean, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Tough question.
Its both about technique and developing your own style.
Its about experimenting, practicing and studying others pixels zoomed in until you find your way.

Cool, thanks for that, somewhat put me at ease! I guess I am just concerend as I can't seem to find much pixel art that is similar to mine, thus I assume it must be 'wrong'!?

Being honest I'm not too bothered if it is, as I would like to be able to make more traditional pixel art, just I would be nice to find out either way! haha

The holy grail of any artist!
You are half way there and something that takes most the longest to achieve. Now its all about practice, experimenting and trying everything.

Never thought about it like that! Thanks for the words jalonso; will be entering competitions on both here and daily pixel, in addition to tuts, to hone my skills and see how much its style vs. technique!
