I didn't wanted to ask this question on WIP since this isn't my work. I was trying to create a tree similiar to this but I couldn't and it made me think what kind of technique or tools they have used.
So I decided to ask few questions here.
1. What techniques they might have used to paint the details and leaves or did they pixelled each one patiently?
2. If you were making a tree like this, what would you do? (Explain with steps if possible please)
Thank you all.

Even though this looks super detailed, they probably started with two colors (a light and a dark) and made the base. Then they added more colors to give detail. Here's a Youtube Video that explains what I'm talking about.

The feeling that there is more than one leaf is helped by the bright yellow color. Stick with a light source. Zooming in on that tree image shows that there are only a few colors.

Here's a full explanation for that tree specifically. I didn't write the article, but I had just read it yesterday or so. Enjoy!
