I've been trying to teach myself how to draw top down sprites. I initially based my design off of Hotline Miami's sprites and branched out from there. I wanted to accurately draw a top down perspective without any sort of boxiness like what I've with a lot of other top down sprites. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I could improve upon my sprites? These are just basic sprites with no animation currently thought I'll be working on animation once I'm happy with how my sprites look.

they are super tiny but you got the basic form down actually. What you need is good contrasting colors becasue right now I could be mistake them for airplanes if I didn't know they were top-down sprites.
Instead of using a harsh black on the inside, try using different colors to give it depth. Also, where is your light source? even if it was just above your sprite, don't be afraid of shading!
you have a good start though. best of luck.
