Hi Guys, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm new here and the search function gave me a 500 error.

My question is what can I do to practice getting more detail in my sprites? What do you all do? My current process is sketch a 16x16, if I like it do a 32x32 version then try to improve it, if I can I then do a 64x64 of the final version. But my problem is the 64x64 always looks like a blown up version of the 16x16 and I'm not tracing it or anything. How did you all practice adding in details? Are there any like color your own detail in sprites I can work off of? Is that a good idea you think? Draw a blank outline then use that as a template to try out a bunch of different versions? Sorry if this is the wrong place or ramblely like I said I'm new and thank all of you for reading/helping
