For some time I have been interested in the EGA color palette, and have been wanting to do some pixel art in that style.
However I was not happy with the range and variations of colors, I found them to be too bright and colorful.

I wanted to make something similar to the EGA palette, essentially I wanted to create my own 16 color palette to work with, so I did.

People may call this cheating but if need be I also picked out 4 additional colours to create an extension from a 16 to 20 color palette... These extra 4 colors are available to round out the palette more evenly and give more options.

I have not created any artwork with the palette myself as of yet but have been working on some scenes for a mockup point and click game.
Included are some examples of my palette using re-colored screenshots of some games, these are not my creations just re-colerd images using my EGA-COM palette, these are only examples to show the palette in action...

And here it is...

EGA-COM

Below are some comparison screenshots side by side of my EGA-COM and the original EGA palette.

Let me know what you think and if you do use the palette I would love to see what you have created with it.

Cool stuff! I haven't played with it myself, but just from eyeballing it:
The browns look very close. Actually all of the dark vs bright colors look very close.
In what way were you inspired by the EGA palette? By having dark and bright in similar hues?
Can you perhaps show an example of the same images but with the EGA palette?

I do not think I explained myself very well in the post above.

I was trying out some art with the EGA palette but found that I did not like the palette, but I loved the limitation of 16 colors.
So I decided to create my own palette, I wanted a challenging palette, a palette that was not bright or fluorescent like the EGA, so I created this one with very muted color with low saturation.

This palette is not perfect but no palette is perfect, it is how you use it.

I named it EGA-COM because I was influenced and motivated because of the EGA palette and it is a custom palette... So EGA CUSTOM becomes EGA-COM.

Below are some comparison screenshots side by side of my EGA-COM and the original EGA palette.
