It's time for the News Icon competition! This competition is now CLOSED. Results:

More often than not we can't find something very relevant, and therefor we challenge you all to make some new ones! You are welcome to make any icon you like. The icons might be used for news topics such as:
Creativity and originality is encouraged, so by all means represent these topics with animals, electronics, fantasy stuff or whatever you can think of. Multiple entries are encouraged! Image requirements: Canvas Size - Max (and recommended) 50x50. Colors - no limitation, but don't go crazy. It's a small canvas! Transparency - Optional. Animation - Optional. • Win a spiffy trophy + points which are rare and will look great in your profile.  +500 Pts +300 Pts  +150 Pts +100 Pts for hm.**Will be handed out for honorable mentions, and one of these will be given to the person with the most entries. • Judges are your PJ Mods and select PJ members. • Judges will vote on multiple entries. The winner will be the entrant with the most votes, of all their entries combined. Therefor you have a much better chance of winning if you make multiple entries! • Icons will be judged on quality, originality, and usability as news icons. • Submit your entries individually to the gallery, make sure that the preview file is the actual icon, put the tag "newsicon" in the keyword box in the submission form. That way we can find entries back easily in the future! • Competition will close on Sunday the 28th of January. Winners will be announced soon after. Post your submissions, questions and WIPS in this thread :) |

| A collection of links and bits of information which weren't big enough to post articles about on their own. Jalonso used to post these every once in a while, I intend to pick up the project again once I have some things I need for it in order! |

Stray Pixels are pixels that are isolated from the rest of their group by being loosely bound diagonally from the corners. They typically cause the area to appear segmented, and thus noisy. They should be avoided at all costs.

I think it is time for me to change my nickname... This awful handle from high school years is getting really old. (I forgot who to PM in order to change my handle) As for Stray Pixels, maybe an icon of a puzzle picture with a missing piece ? or a robot missing his mechanical limb... etc |

@Hapiel Thank you! :) It took me some time to finish all of them and waiting before submitting helped me to fix some of them* and start other ones * (initially I made the first ones 47x47 for example...  )P.S. I noticed that some of them are still "awaiting approval"... I imagine that it takes time to check everything (I'm not rushing you) just do not forget them in that state forever... Thank you :) |

There is actually a written rule about multiple submissions, which tells us not to approve more than 5 works of a person per day. See top of the submission page. We hardly ever have to apply it, but will still slowly feed in all the icons to make sure that they all get some front page love :) |

Thank you! I'm very happy that my hard work was appreciated! There were many very cool entries: good work everybody!  Personally I like especially the old games of Skeddles, the gamepad of Feja2003 (yeah I like old games even if I don't have time for them), the dragon of Harmonica and the small ms paint of Nevercreature (very interesting idea even in its simplicity) @Hapiel Thank you for the information about the rule for multiple submission  |
