Hi there! Just submitted 2 pieces, one was rejected and one was accepted. I am brand new to this, and not sure of what requirement I didn't meet. I am just wondering if someone could tell me what to revise so I can avoid unnecessary revisions in the future?

(I hope this is an ok place for this post)

Three things on the rejected piece:
  1. The background is not pixel art, looks like a gradient generated by a tool
  2. Do not upscale your pieces for upload, the site provides this a zoom feature for this purpose
  3. The preview file does not match the detailed image file

Welcome to PJ by the way

About your second image "Skate Pup", you used 64 unique colors for such a small image/animation. Counting colors is an important part of expression through pixel art. The less is always better. I suggest you to try to reduce the number of colors in this image.
And of course, welcome to PJ.
