Tuna are looking for a highly motivated, pro-active and creative 2d artist to work on PC Casual and handheld titles. If you aren't sure what casual is, visit popcap, msn games, big fish games, play first, oberon, sandlot, reflexive, and so on.

If you don't know us, some of you may know Alien Hominid from Behemoth (google it if you don't!) - we worked on handheld versions of this beautiful title.

The ideal candidate must able to demonstrate 2d art\animation skills using one or more of the following:
- Fireworks
- Photoshop
- Flash
- ProMotion

Beneficial additional skills include:
- Rapid production skills
- Logo design
- Interface design
- Web bdesign
- Traditional drawing\illustration
- 3D experience

An interest in game design would also be preferred, in particular with reference to the PC casual game market.

A full-time internal position is available, however external contractors and telecommuting will be considered fully. We are based in Sheffield (UK).

Email jobs (at) tunatech.com with your resume. Please provide links to artwork rather than including them in your email.

I'm a little bit interested in this project.

Might I first ask now, for the benefit of myself and others here, whether there is specifically a pixel based component to the work you offer? You mention a number of other avenues of 2D (some of which I'm experienced in) but fail to list whether any actual pixel art skills are required.

Just to let you know, were I to apply it would be for the position of external contractor.

The key is to look up the above games if you are not already familiar. Mobile games can be easily found. PC casual games are the type you'll find on Big Fish, PopCap, MSN Games, Sandlot, GameHouse, Reflexive, and so on.

If you're doing 2d animation for casual and handheld games, then being able to draw a large manga character isn't relevant (we get this all the time).

There's a lot of people who do that but it's really of little use in the games world, especially for casual and handheld. The skills are not necessarily transferrable to doing backgrounds and sprite creation/animation.

Hope that helps.

I did look up those games, I just wanted to clarify if pixel art skills actually applied to this position, as this is a forum for pixel artists afterall.

I'm a visual communications/design student which means Ive had experience with some of the programs and practically all of the beneficial additional skills you mentioned. However, at this stage, I'm only looking for a job that works primarily with pixel based art and animation.

Alien Hominid is a great game, by they way (although I've never played the hand held version).

Just to confirm, we are after a pixel artist and animator with an interest in games and game design of the types mentioned.

Other skills are always useful but this isn't a job for manga/ful screen character artists - we have many such applications but they aren't relevant to our market unfortunately.

We actually have access to some great pixel artists but we're looking for one with a flair for design as well, and preferably internal although we're flexible if the right person commes along.

For a freelancer, knowledge of the top games in the PC casual game download market is highly recommended.

Hope this helps.

Hello!
I am a 2d/pixel artist... I have 1 year experience working on mobile games with a number of finished projects...

I live in Ukraine and I'd like to work as an external contractor. Is that possible?
