Hey there!
A while back I bought a new cellphone, and took an interest in mobile device programming, using java (j2me). As I am a fan of the old 3d-games from a decade or more ago, I decided I wanted to make a raycasting engine. Now, a few months later (due to school and work), it has all the basic features needed before adding actual design and graphic content. To give a little reference to what the engine can do, it would be possible to do a Wolfenstein 3D-remake if I desired. And it has some additional features, that Wolf3D doesn't have, like variable wall height, texture transparency and animation, as well as some other minor effects (palette effects mainly). I many regards, I would dare say that my engine is hotter than the java-version of DoomRPG, which was released some months ago :)

So what is needed now is some content in the game, since my own artwork is so cheap. Mainly I'm trying to find someone who can do some decent graphics. I don't think your workload would be all that large, there are heavy memory constraints on mobile devices. Think Wolf3D, with less animation frames.
And if you would enjoy designing games too, I sould be glad to let you, since I'm no good at that either :)

The game now runs at a decent 12-16 fps on my SonyEricsson k750i, which would also probably be the minimum device requirement to run the game.

Unfortunately, there is only a slim to none-chance of getting paid for this. I will of course try to get it published, although I don't know anything about how this works, I'm a computer engineering student for crying out loud ;) . Nonetheless, I am very thorough, and I have spent many hours on this engine, and will keep doing so until it's finished. The real enjoyment is the making of the game, and I hope that I can find someone here who feels the same!

On these screenshots I'm trying out a third person perspective, but, of course, first person works just as well.

Here is a short video of the game in action:

I am no graphics-artist either, but a programmer and I can only asure the people here that this guy seriously is dedicated. Pulling off something like that takes a lot of hard work. Give him a chance. :)

Thanks for the kind reply! :)
Yes, it has taken quite some time to get it all in place. All the difficult aspects of the engine is done, I just want it to become a game now, instead of just an engine!

Perhaps I marketed myself a little wrong before, so I'll try again:
I have a working raycasted engine (think wolf3d plus some topping (not entirely trivial on a java based cellphone (last I heard, 75% of the market))), and have no clue what to do with it!
If you know what you would do if you had one, you could always use mine ;)

That townsmen seems very nice btw, I'll be keeping my eyes on it :)
