Using either only tall pixels 1x2 or only wide pixels 2x1, you are challenged to draw a scene which focusses on one of these 4 dinosaurs: - Triceratops - - Tyrannosaurus - - Brontosaurus - - Stegorsaurus

A wide or tall pixel scene means that all pixels take up double the amount of space, aligning to either grid below. You have to pick one, you can't mix the grids. For an example, have a look at - this recent widepixel image from Christoballs.

Also the colors are very specific: Perfect black (#000000), perfect white (#FFFFFF) and any perfect grey of your choice, meaning that the red, green and blue component all have the same value (such as #A0A0A0 or (160, 160, 160))

Canvas size -
Colors - Exactly 3, black, white, and one gray of choice.
Transparency - No
Animation - Optional

It's easy to work with odd shaped pixels in many drawing applications, here are some guides:

Grafx2: Screen size > pixel size

Photoshop: View > Pixel aspext ratio > Anamorphic (only works well with wide pixels)
Photoshop tall pixels (thanks Ptoing):
create your canvas at the squashed size, as in 100x50
and then make it a smart object
then doubleclick on the smart object layer to edit it
set your windows to tile vertically
also make sure to set filtering to nearest neighbor (ctrl+k and then general, should be 3rd dropdown from the top in that window)
draw in the squashed version, use as many layers as you want
every time you save the stretched version gets updated

Aseprite: New > Advanced options Pixel aspect ratio

ProMotion: On the bottom of the canvas there is a button that says 1:1 (not the left one, the middle one). Click it.

Or, in any software you can draw on a 1x canvas (100x50 or 50x100) and then scale it before you export.
