images that are ranked high are seen the most [therefore they get even more ratings; so theres no chance of them falling down] I've no real suggestions how to fix it, but ens made me post it.

hmm, perhaps we should have better options to choose how they are sorted?

Perhaps an average scoring system aswel, but only those who have been rated at least (eg.) 10 times are placed into the list (to stop those only voted once with max stars from going to the top of the list). Might not work with the varied rating amounts though.

I suggest a formula like this:
normal = 52 * 3 (3 years) age = (the number of weeks from now) / normal rank = rating - (age * rating)
That will tend to rank down things over time. after three years, they will not be able to achieve the same rank as a just-submitted pixel art.
------------- absolutely.

I dunno...I think the Hall of Fame should still be accessible, but treat it more like a showcase of works...In other words, after a year (or two) turn off the ability to rank the piece...That should help the newer pieces compete with several of the older masterpieces...

hmmm, deserving new pieces seem to compete OK to me. Many pieces on
page 1 of the Hall of Fame are quite new. It would be unfair to take
away rank ability from any piece since they are as good as when they
were made/submitted. New votes for a piece only come from new members,
so its new to them. Breaking up into some sort of "retired piece" sub
category seems unfair to me. I say make game mockups of over dithered
super marios riding dragons, ftw

The growth of PJ also makes it that more people go to the New Pieces
section everyday, thus new pieces get rated more than old ones.
