hello
i've submitted three works today using a small label that just says 'doodle' as preview-image, not showing anything of the actual picture, which is why they've not been accepted yet. i realise that it can be troublesome when having nsfw contents, but this is not the case here, and i'd really like to keep it for the uniformity's sake of my gallery. it didn't seem to be a problem in the past.
thanks in advance for any response

that was me that sent those 2 back. The thumbnail doesn't match at all and I don't really understand why you wouldn't wnat a good thumbnail to entice people to look at the whole piece. Seems half of your gallery is like this.
Sending images back due to lack of a proper thumbnail isn't an irregular occurance. This is all stated in the rules of submitting. Not trying to be a dick about it but, again, I don't understand why you'd want to have the same basic and boring thumbnail for most of your images. Seems a bit lazy in my opinion. Give me a better reason why or else start making proper thumbnails soon

i too would have sent them back. i feel there is no reason to have a thumbnail that does not match. your doodles are fairly good, but i dont think its fair for someone to have to click on the link and find something that they dont like at all.

It is a bit annoying and time consuming to have to make a preview for every piece you submit, but i think you should follow the rules. Just a little snapshot the size of the text 'doodle' put below the text would be good enough i think. Sorry for the trouble man but that's how it rollzzz... :/

It takes 2 minutes tops to make a preview, so I don't see what the problem is.

Nah, time or laziness is not the problem here. It's just that I've sort of established a certain layout for my gallery here (well, to a minimal extent, but you get the idea). About the reason.. well, I'm not sure how to put it best, it mostly just feels like the right thing to do. Those pieces are not intended to circulate much in those popularity summaries. Whenever i do make pieces in which a lot of effort went into (or also rather technical polish), they get a nice preview image that's to represent it in the big race that this site seems to be about so much, to bait the casual viewer. The [doodle]s are meant to stay inside my gallery, and for those to discover who liked one my pictures enough to actually browse the rest of my work. Personally, i think it makes for a nice effect, if one can only guess what there's going to be next, after having taken to most of the rest already. On a slightly more off-topic note (because i think that this will be brought up anyways, if i don't do it myself now), I like to think that I did maintain a certain variety in my different pieces so far to justify uploading non-superpolished stuff like this, especially if it breaks with the general/too automated ideas and trends and offers different approaches on this whole thing to those intrested. If you will insist on too rigid standards, this whole place here won't be able to breed much of anything new, or to take this medium much further than what is already in the recycling process (i really hate to come off as the self-proclaimed genius here that i'm absolutely not, sorry).
Anyhow, a wise man once said, "Don't sh*t where you eat", so instead of going even more off-topic with all this I'll just state that the whole labels thing also works like brand recognition of sorts.
And it actually isn't that big of a deal, I'd really be thankful for a definite 'Yes' or 'No'.
Thank you.

I've seen some people use quite small preview images (of the actual piece) and I think that having those might achieve your intended desire, because they're less effective at gaining attention, as you'd like for your doodly pieces.
