While browsing the harddrive of a school computer, I found a strange image called 'pwned.png'. I thought it was interesting enough to keep so I did and now it's become a collab. Each person can do one frame of the comic (numbered 1-8, in the same manner as reading) in pixel art, meaning that there will be 8 participants.

i like how the frames blend together but seems like the transition from blue to red could be a bit smoother maybe? it also kind of confuses the scene because it looks like these guys are in the foreground in frame 8 and some other dude is jumpin into the maetz in the distance. i like the idea for sure, just seems there might be a better way to make it flow.....i don't know, its 7 ma :P maybe you should just ignore me

Thanks MoD I agree with you on the mouth so i tried adding a highlight.

Eq, I am going to extend your light colored lines where the copy is into a metal fence and gate upon which I will pick up your vine ornaments by making a vine (realistic greens) growing over the fence. I'll use this to break my frame from yours and dopple's. Souly, recolor to a more suitable palette but keep your style? Sab, I'm going to rework my spikes to something closer to yours, but not copied. ------------- |

I'm intentionally leaving the sides (right and bottom) not totally done, 'cause I assumed dear ol' souly would feel pressure to edit his frame to suit style, and felt like givin' him the liberty of a little less to match. Souly, feel totally free to masticate my frame to help yours suit the general style, if need be :] P_O, could I be so bold as to suggest better matching your frame with MoD's? I like the continuity theme Jal set, rllz. It'd be coo to see that used throughout, what with frames co-mingling and stuff.

Kickass, MoD, them's a sweet frame.
On a side note, could it be Kingdom of Loathing that inspired this comic? It's a lil game that uses meat as currency, and I'd imagine they often get newbs asking for meat. Hence the wanting to kill them.

Guess its first come frst served now. I consolidated the colors and saved as a gif for all. Nice job Suicidale, you think maybe you can do something about the harsh black outline, pleeeze. Also why not fit the 'gah' so that it ties in better with the next frame? Suggestions only not orders Souly, Maybe all you need is to change your blue shades to the two used throughout? P_O, will you complete the circle of the mon on yours. As Sab said your sky is a little off with all the others. All the colors on the lower left hand side are shared colors. Colors over a particular frame are colors only used on that frame. These may/could/should be revised maybe. I changed the colors on my frame so that it was more interesting. Added two colors for Eq to use as repayment for the awesome cliff he provided. Of course he's changed it now so I must change mine to match. Make any changes as needed on your frame if needed and I'll do the color unification again. I hope its not me making the colors go dark. MoD, you deserve a big kudos for a completed collab  This has been a fun one and looks awesome all 8 frames go together really well.  ------------- |

imo, souly, you could switch the colors on his cap for the the dark redisch tones already available. the ground I'd switch for the purplish shades ... and I'd add a ramp-up on the right-side to connect to Pie's diagonal line ... just friendly suggestions do with them what you will. By collaboration I thought we'd all do it with our own styles. Not all copy one similar style through the whole thing. That way we could tell who's was who's. -------------

It started that way but seems to have evolved somewhat, collaborations can do that. As a general rule the point of a collab is to challenge yourself, experiment with other styles and learn new things. In this type of a collab its not knowing who made what that makes it work. Otherwise its a collage. I think we have all done our own style. Its using the general same colors choices (in this case) that ties it together, its MoDs collab so its his rules. For exmaple I don't think you should change your frame from your style to fit anyone elses. The angled line suggestion is just something that ties things together. You should not have to recolor the ground or change the pattern on the sky. MoD says he started out by basing his frame on yours for inspiration and then recolored to match other frames. I like a good, full ass. As much as I love your style, souly, I think it'd be cool t'chuck a bit of compromise in there. Lil bit of you, and a touch of everyone else. Fer mine, I TRIED to follow Jal's suit of highlighting on the spikes, but made them faaar more curvey and spiky, which seems to be my style. I just straight up copied the clouds, 'cause I'm half-assed like that.
M'iunno. It's up to you, you don't HAVE to change it, but I'd love you so much MORE if you did :)

I don't have the motivation to re-do it. Dopple submitted his at the same time I did mine. So we didn't have anything to go from. I don't really wanna re-do it, since I was having a bad day when I did that. I might do it in time, if not then someone else can do it. P_O, I know that, but its a collaboration between 8 people that has evolved from rules that were not very strict to begin with. Creative people can and do get creative. 6 Have agreed to work together in a more collaborative way. Not to be a control freak (as accused). My opinion is that suggestions are fine but nobody should alter other's frames. If Souly and P_O wish to drop out then so be it. Others who are interested can join in to re-make those two frames. Ensellitis was bumped out by Suicidale, he can jump back in and ease his anger? Scottfro found the textures inspiring and started a WIP using them, he may be interested too? Or someone else? edit: P_O the red lines over your frame were a suggestion for carrying the sky into your frame and was not intended to be final. The frames have been compiled into one only to keep control of colors and for all to work their frame in a cohesive manner. Once all the frames are 100% complete one of us will make the final version with unified colors. All the individual frames have color shifting from the .bmp, .gif and .png type files. The red lines I made, the redraw Eq made and Sab's latest edit are 'discussion' files not to be taken as final. We are still working at it. Again, its a collaboration. ------------- |

Lets take a look on where you stand jal.
You've made one tile, and from this tile you have set the rules and colors for half the whole comic. You decided to connect your image,now we all have to? You added your own colors and now we are forced to use your colors?
How is it creative when I'm doing carbon copies of everyone elses styles and colors? I expected a free thinker and whimsical liberal such as yourself to understand this. If you want to start your own lines and comic then go ahead.

But see the ORIGINAL concept of this collab was made by MoD, and only MoD alone should have the power to decide what he wants his collab to become. I originally thought that since we'd be doing our OWN frames that all of us would have a different style. But you decided to copy and keep with one style. I don't want to change mine because that's what I submitted to the collab. I did this before any unwritten rules were made. You aren't acting like a mod jal, and sorry if this is in any way offensive. But I do believe you are being a control freak and not controlling the peace like you should. You're demanding things from everyone as if this is your collab when obviously it isn't. If MoD decides that he wants the whole thing to look the same then that's his decision. In which case I'll pull out and someone can finish off my panel. I didn't want to copy a style I wanted to add to the comic. I personally thought panels from different artists with different art techniques would've looked much cooler then a single style copied by different artists. -------------

You really are misunderstanding what has evolved here. A quick synopsis.
 My main concern now is that you both feel its me taking over/controlling things. This was the last thing on my mind and did not feel that I was doing so. MoD ditto'd my first comment regarding a direction. Eq, Dopple seconded the flow of things. Suicidale did too by adding his to what was obvious was happening on the comic.This really was a great and fun collab and perhaps I got overly involved in trying to make a great and sucessful collab (not many, if any, ever get completed around here). ------------- |

Control freak my ass. Jal has a vision, and he's pushing for it. You don't HAVE TO merge yours with the others. You don't HAVE TO do anything. If you're going to be swayed or moved by sulking
And I find your comment about creativity a little off, there, P_O. It'd be a different matter if your tile was unique, but it does still follow the general dynamic. Who said you HAVE TO have spikes down there? maybe it was flames, who knows.
To be flat-out honest, the only change I feel "needs" to happen right now is for MoD/P_O's tiles to be better merged. Then I'd be happy, more or less.

i think it's not a matter of copying a style. if you noticed, my style is entirely different from dopple. it's jsut the same colorscheme + borrowed colors from souly. then clouds are made to connect frames.

why not just do 2 versions of the thing? one with the unified style and one with unique styles from each artist? seems everyone could be happy then, ppl that didn't like the unification could put their art towards the new comic and others could wrap up the old..... just a thought

I am able to seperate myself from mod duties and participate rather than oversee. When I participate as a member I leave all mod duties to the others. +1 \o/ ------------- |

Woah. This has gotten REALLY offtopic. Maybe I can steer this topic back towards the collaborative theme it was supposed to have.
I understand that some people may have problems with jalonso's suggestions. But that's just it; they're suggestions. He presented them as something we could choose to do and several of us liked the idea and editted our frames accordingly. If anyone dislikes the red-line suggestions, simply take this as an opportunity to check to be sure your art is well-polished and put it in the most recent version of the collab image.
In a little bit, I'll post my tile, added to the most recent version of the image. From then on, can we please try to be a bit more tolerant, focused on the goal here (not stoning or celebrating anyone), and communicative? Thanks.
