i use miranda im, www.miranda-im.org it offers very basic functionality, but that can be enhanced with plug-ins i like it the way it is "out of the box", though - a very simple messaging application that uses very little resources |

gaim and miranda looks ok but it still has that AIM vibe iam trying to get away from

okay, i'm confused now - did you mean an instant messaging application
or a network? i don't really see how miranda has an "aim" vibe - you
can use it for any im protocol you want, and you can completely
customize the look using plug-ins (for example
