Welcome to PJ!
This looks very nice so far. One suggestion, though, is to make the ground into dirt so it looks more natural with grass growing out of it and rocks sticking out of it.
Also be careful with your lightsource, most things show it as being in the bottom-right, but the left pile of rocks and the left side of the portal show it in the bottom-left. Watch liighting when you flip parts of an image. ------------- http://pixelmonkey.ensellitis.com">

Small update, messing with the lighting, remember still super WIP taking all C&C, need to improve my skills :)

ehmz.... maybe it would look nice if you make the walls like paintings of a forest, and put 2 red eyes far away in the gate...
