See Spot.

See Spot jump. (only so much room he can jump :p)

See Spot summon a magic walking stick.

8 colours. Yeah, he isn't all too exciting. Maybe I should zoom in and do the fleas instead, I hear they have a great act.

he looks like a fire emblem thief

the jump is pretty wierd , he stays too much time in the air imo

Hopefully that's better.

Haven't played FE, actually and I can't find the sprites. How close is the resemblance?

Spot can do tricks too.

And a combination of the two:

Not entirely related.
But the positioning of the shield bugs me. Any glaring and/or somewhat dimmer anatomical issues?

My attempt at shading. Hard to make it look metallic. And even harder to make each part distinguishable from the next.

To add separation of body segments and different objects as well as increase the pixel's interest, you could add varied hues for different objects or put an emblem or crest on the shield. The right (his left) leg needs some more definiton of the shin and foot and the border between them. I also notice that the shoulder pad on the same side looks a bit strange with its shading; the backlighting looks a bit too strong and shaped in a way that doesn't make sense with the way I'm visualizing its form.

The shield looks as if it could use being positioned more towards the center of his body and tilted slightly more upright, though those might not work very well with the non-combat pose you have going here. Compare what that'd look like with what you have in mind for the sprite and tell/show us what you come up with.

The shield is shaded rather boringly, in my opinion. You would do better to show the highlights of the corners formed by the cross indentation on the shadowed side and the shadows thus created on the highlighted side. As mentioned earlier, it would read better with an emblem or crest; even a different color in each section would work and you could pull off a funny windows-logo parody that way.

I'll work on the separation after I get this worked out.

How does that look?
